If you plant it, it will grow.

For years, I have dreamed of having a garden. I have begged my parents from the age of eight to plant rows of tomatoes, cucumbers, and anything else that our backyard could fit. They always said no because they didn't want to ruin the yard, or because it was too much work. Luckily, the right time came about to push my idea once more. Parents are divorced, and we are in quarantine. My sweet mother gave me the go ahead and immediately I took off for Tractor Supply (by now they know me by name there.) My boyfriend has a green thumb, and helped me pick all of the right veggies for our area. I carefully planted our squash, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, and three types of tomatoes and nursed them until they were big enough to be transplanted to the garden boxes right outside of my mother's bathroom window. They are now steadily growing, and are the favorite chore in my day. Having a garden is truly a labor of love, as it takes not only plant food, fertilizer, and water to make them grow, but also love, protection, and the occasional chit chat to encourage them to grow. Watching my garden grow has been like watching a puppy turn into a dog, or watching a child grow older. It really is so beautiful to see something grow from nothing to something wonderful all thanks to the beautiful earth that God has given us. However, like I said, it is a labor. So before you decide to build a garden, think about it first because it can be a bitch to deal with.
