This post is really just to let you know how I started and why, and just to give a few "heads up" notices to those interested. After this, my posts will simply be tips and tricks and ideas for chicken raising.
If you can believe it, quarantine began to drive me crazy. I had no sense of what day it was or what I was even doing anymore. I knew it started to get bad when someone asked me what I had for lunch just an hour after I ate, and I truly could not recall what I had. This was somewhat of a reality check, and caused my launch into a spree of pinterest searches, trying to find the perfect hobby to start. After a few scrolls somehow, of all things that I could have decided on, my mind landed on chicken raising. Immediately I grabbed my boyfriend and siblings and took off to tractor supply and the Co-op in Canton. A week or two later, I ended up with a chicken yard, an adorable coop, and 6 precious chicks--each named after an Oldie's female country star. On starting this experience I have a few disclaimers to those wanting to try...
1. They smell bad
2. They poop everywhere
3. They are adorable
4. They are a responsibility
5. At the end of the day, it is worth it.
